1–3 pips
The number of pips above entry to set the stop (not exactly at entry). This prevents the trade from being stopped out immediately when price briefly dips to entry level.
Breakeven Lock Profit

Some EAs allow a "lock in small profit" mode where the SL moves to entry + X pips. This guarantees a small win even if the trade reverses before hitting full TP.

5 Common Stop Loss Mistakes on XAUUSD
MISTAKE: Setting SL too tight (under 20 pips on M1)
