Account Setup

Account minimum requirements for EA trading are determined by risk management math, not by broker deposit minimums. Understanding what capital level allows proper position sizing is the foundation of sustainable gold EA operation.

The most common mistake traders make when starting with a gold EA is focusing on the broker's minimum deposit ($100, $200, or $500) rather than the risk management minimum — the capital required to trade with proper position sizing and enough buffer to survive normal drawdown without hitting a margin call. These two numbers are very different, and confusing them leads to undercapitalization that turns normal losing sequences into account-ending events.

The risk management calculation is straightforward: decide your maximum acceptable risk per trade (typically 0.5–1%), determine the EA's typical stop loss distance in pips, and calculate the minimum account size needed to risk that percentage on the minimum available lot size. For XAUUSD with a 30-pip stop and 0.01 minimum lot ($0.10/pip), the minimum risk per trade is $3 ($0.10 × 30 pips). To make this 1% of your account, you need at least $300. But $300 provides no buffer — a 5-trade losing streak reduces the account to $285, making the next trade represent a larger % of the reduced balance.

The Goldie Sniper EA PRO's up to 15 trades per day means that drawdown can accumulate quickly during bad sessions. A $1,000 minimum means 10 consecutive losses at 1% risk reduces the account to $900 — still viable. The same scenario on a $200 account creates a $20-loss sequence that may trigger margin call territory before the strategy has a chance to recover. Adequately capitalizing the EA from the start is not optional — it is what allows the mathematical edge to express itself over a sufficient sample size of trades.
