Choosing the Right VPS Location

VPS location relative to your broker's trading server is the most important technical decision in the setup. Latency — the time it takes for an order from the VPS to reach the broker's execution server — directly affects slippage and fill quality for scalping EAs that require fast execution.

Most Forex and gold CFD brokers route through Equinix NY4 (New York) or LD4 (London) data centers. Choosing a VPS server in the same city, ideally in the same facility or a peering location, typically reduces round-trip latency from 100–200ms (home broadband) to under 5ms. For high-frequency scalping EAs like Goldie Sniper, this latency difference is meaningful.

To check your broker's server location, connect MT5 and look at File → Open an Account — the server list usually indicates geographic location. Alternatively, ping the broker server IP from different VPS locations and pick the one with lowest latency.

For the Goldie Razor V2 and other EAs with wider time windows, location matters less than for pure M1 scalpers. Latency of 20–50ms is typically acceptable for EAs trading on M15 or H4 timeframes with non-time-critical execution requirements.
