Technical Requirements
Yes — but all 5 technical requirements must be green. One missing element can turn a profitable scalping strategy into a money-losing execution experiment.

Current setup is not suitable for gold scalping automation — high probability of performance degradation due to execution costs
Automated gold scalping means an EA operating on M1 or M5 charts, identifying short-duration momentum signals, entering at market or limit, targeting 10–30 pips per trade, and closing either at take profit or stop loss — all without human intervention for each trade. Multiple trades per session, typically 3–15 per day depending on market volatility and strategy rules.
The distinction from day trading automation is important. Day trading EAs might run on M15 or H1 charts, target 30–80 pips per trade, and execute 1–3 trades per session. These require less stringent spread and latency requirements because the larger targets make execution cost a smaller percentage of profit. Scalping automation is more technically demanding precisely because the smaller profit targets make every pip of execution cost proportionally more significant.
Whether gold scalping bot trading is profitable right now is addressed in our 2026 profitability guide, which covers current market conditions including volatility environment and session-specific spread behaviour.
XAUUSD (gold against the US dollar) has structural characteristics that make it more suitable for automated scalping than many forex pairs. The daily range on XAUUSD averages 15–30 USD (1,500–3,000 pips in 0.01 pip increments), providing multiple scalping opportunities per session. The asset has defined liquidity windows — London open and NY session — where volume surges create the directional momentum that scalping strategies exploit.
Gold also has predictable session behaviour that rule-based EAs can encode: the London open typically shows breakout momentum in one direction for 20–60 minutes before retracing. This pattern has structural reasons (institutional order flow at session open) that persist year over year with manageable variation. An M1 EA built around this structural pattern has a clearer logic basis than an EA attempting to scalp a pair with less predictable session behaviour.
The practical implication: a gold scalping EA with correctly configured spread filter, ECN execution, and low-latency VPS is operating on an asset class well-suited to its approach. The 5 requirements listed above are not arbitrary — they are what the specific characteristics of gold scalping demand from the infrastructure around the EA.
The spread cost calculation for scalping is simple but frequently ignored. If your EA targets 20 pips per trade and your total execution cost (spread + commission) is 8 pips, you need gold to move 8 pips just to break even, then 20 additional pips to hit your target. Your effective risk:reward is not 1:2 — it is 1:1.5 (accounting for the 8-pip break-even requirement).
Now change the spread to 15 pips total: your effective risk:reward at the same 20-pip target is 1:1.1 — essentially flat. A strategy with a 50% win rate and 1:1.1 RR has a negative expectancy. The spread alone has turned a potentially profitable strategy into a losing one. This is the mathematical reason spread is the single most important requirement for gold scalping automation.
How to minimise slippage on your scalping EA is covered in our slippage minimisation guide, which goes beyond the spread to cover requote management, order fill quality, and time-in-force settings that affect execution quality.
VPS selection is the most frequently underestimated component of scalping automation setup. Most new EA traders attach the EA to their home PC, which might have 150–300ms latency to the broker's server (depending on internet quality and geographic distance). On M1 scalping, where an entire trade can be entered, run to target, and closed within 5–15 minutes, 300ms execution delay is equivalent to 2–5 pips of additional slippage per entry.
A VPS co-located with your broker's data centre achieves 1–10ms latency. The difference between 200ms (home PC) and 5ms (co-located VPS) across 200 monthly scalping trades is approximately 1,000 pips of avoided slippage — more than a full month's expected profit for many scalping strategies. The VPS cost ($20–$50/month) is trivially small relative to this execution quality improvement.

ECN broker verification: the simplest check is to ask your broker directly via live chat: "Is my account type ECN or STP, and does the company operate a dealing desk for XAUUSD?" A reputable ECN broker will confirm no dealing desk without hesitation. If the support representative is evasive or uncertain, treat it as a red flag. Additionally, look at your broker's raw spread account details — if XAUUSD spread is listed as 0–3 pips with a separate commission, it is almost certainly genuine ECN. If XAUUSD spread is listed as 8–15 pips with "no commission," it is a marked-up standard account.
Timeframe alignment: confirm the EA is attached to the correct chart timeframe in MT5. In MT5, right-click on any chart → Properties → Common → shows the chart timeframe. The EA's decision-making timeframe is the chart it runs on. If your scalping EA documentation specifies M1, confirm it is attached to a M1 XAUUSD chart — not H1, not H4.
Spread filter configuration: in MT5 Expert Advisors, the spread filter parameter is typically labelled "MaxSpread," "MaximumSpread," or "SpreadFilter." The value is usually in points (0.1 pip increments) or pips, depending on EA. If the EA uses points: 150 points = 15 pips on XAUUSD (which uses 2 decimal places in points). Test by opening a trade manually during a high-spread period and confirming the EA log shows a rejection.
Not all Pro-Scalper EAs are scalping systems. Understanding which EA matches which approach helps you select the right system for your infrastructure and objectives. The Goldie Sniper EA PRO is the core scalping EA — M1 timeframe, up to 15 trades per day, targeting London open and NY session momentum. All 5 scalping requirements apply with maximum strictness for this EA. Spread over 10 pips, latency over 50ms, or missing spread filter will materially degrade performance.
The Goldie Razor V2 and V2.8.4 operate on M15 (V2.8.4) and H1 (V2), making them more correctly classified as day trading systems rather than scalping EAs. They target larger moves (40–80 pips) and execute 7–10 trades per day, which means spread requirements are somewhat less stringent — a 12-pip total spread cost is more manageable against a 50-pip target than against a 20-pip scalping target. These EAs still benefit from ECN execution and spread filter, but the strict ≤10 pip spread requirement applies mainly to Goldie Sniper EA PRO.
The Blind Sniper X PRO (1–3 trades/day) and Hybrid Manual Scalper Pro are not scalping EAs — they operate at lower frequency and longer time horizons, making the 5 scalping infrastructure requirements less critical, though still beneficial.
